E911 Services

When an individual in an area served by wireline Enhanced 911 picks up the telephone and calls 911 what happens?

First, the Telephone company's computers recognize that this is an emergency call and it is routed to a pre-determined Public Safety Answer Point (PSAP). The Call Taker answers the line;

911 do you need Police, Fire or Ambulance?

After the caller states their requirement, the Call Taker presses a transfer button.  The telephone company's computers then automatically route the call to the correct dispatch agency. (Police, Fire or Ambulance). The location of the caller is automatically routed at the same time (see ANI/ALI information).

The call is then answered by the dispatch agency and their emergency response person  then talks to the caller to determine the emergency and the appropriate response.  Once the appropriate connection is made and the client is engaged, our call taker will exit the call.
