ABOUT US

Northern911 is a subsidiary of  Northern Communication Services Inc.  The company was started in 1954 in Sudbury, Ontario as a message centre using manual “cord-boards” to handle each call.  Over time the business has grown through acquisitions and new ventures into one of Canada’s finest businesses with branches in Sudbury, North Bay, Timmins and Sault Ste. Marie.  The company is owned 100% privately by a group of individuals residing in Northern Ontario. Within this group, there is significant financial strength and an intangible sense of pride of ownership.  These individuals have continually driven the business to focus on customer satisfaction and the business has won numerous awards over the years.  As we have added new services like VoIP 911 services and Telematics, we have continued to focus on delivering innovative, high quality, customized services to our North American wide client base.  Our people are highly trained, experienced and ready to do their utmost for our customers!!

Highlights:

• Now provide E911 wire line and VoIP  911 dispatch services across North America. Northern911 was the first and is now the largest VoIP 911 Call Routing and Emergency Dispatch service in Canada!
• Northern911 is the largest alarm monitoring station in Northern Ontario and monitors all types of alarms (burglary, fire, environmental, etc) both directly for the consumer and on a sub-contract basis for a number of alarm companies. Through our Security Services, we help protect your Life Safety!
• Northern911 has been doing Fire Dispatching for over 50 years!
• Our recent technology upgrade allows us to web enable many of our services. Our clients love it!
• New services include Telematics, 411, 611, 711 and Dial 0 services!
• If you need to contact a lot of people in a short period time, find out about our online and telephone notification services for emergency or non-emergency situations. 
• The Emergency Resource Centre (ERC) is a state of the art facility fully secure and backed up. It even has its own generator so that can operate during a power failure!

Certifications include:

• the Under Writer’s Laboratories (UL) , who inspect our location on an annual basis for compliance with their standards.
• The Call Management Association (CAM-X) Northern911 has won a number of service awards for Excellence.
• Through our sister company True Steel Security we are a member of the  Canadian Alarm and Security Organization (CANASA). All of our technicians are certified.
• APCO International. All our Emergency Services Call Takers are APCO trained and have completed the Public Safety Telecommunicator course, version 5.
• The National Emergency Number Association. We are a member of NENA.
