FIRE DISPATCH

Northern911 currently dispatches for over fifty (50) different Fire Departments, First Response Teams and Emergency Service Groups.  These range from departments that are nearby to some over 1,000 kilometers away.  Our 24 x 7 Emergency Response Centre (ERC) is staffed with professional fully trained operators capable of handling any fire related emergency.

The ERC works with fire departments in a number of ways:

• We do the actual FIRE dispatch based on instructions as previously provided by the Fire Chief.
• By immediately contacting Fire Fighters by pagers, by Short Message Service (SMS) or by telephoning them at home or work should other methods not be available.
• By contacting specific members of a Fire Fighter team depending on the type of fire indicated
• We can contact Mutual Aid if requested
• We can supply support such as calling for a Hydro disconnect and report back to the leader on scene.
• By implementing other custom call configurations based on client needs.
• By providing a toll free emergency line for residents of an area or alarm companies etc. to call
• In some areas, we are a “down stream” dispatch agency to the 911 Communications Centre.
• We complete a full report on each incident.

At Northern911, we pride ourselves on our rapid response time, over 97% of calls answered in three rings or better!!  The ERC is bilingual (French/English) and has access to real time translation services in over 170 languages. 

Every call is recorded and available for playback if required.  The physical site is fully secure and all critical systems are redundant.
