As the Primary PSAP, Northern911 can Call Transfer to the appropriate PSAP throughout Ontario. As the Secondary PSAP, Northern911 offers Fire Dispatch services in compliance to NFPA 1061 standards.
Text with 9-1-1
Northern911 delivers Text with 9-1-1 (T911) services for the deaf, deafened, hard of hearing or speech impaired (DHHSI) community with select wireless carriers in Canada. When participants are registered with their wireless service providers and require 9-1-1 services Northern911 is ready to communicate with the caller via text messaging. Northern911 can transfer the caller to the appropriate PSAP and if needed relay information to the Secondary PSAP if they are not T911 enabled.
Our APCO Certified Emergency Response Specialists deliver the highest quality caller experience available 24/7/365. We are bilingual French/English 24/7 in house and subscribe to a translation service for up to 170 additional languages. Our team is qualified to handle the diverse array of Emergencies that your clients may call us about. We are trained and experienced in handling emergency situations.
As the Primary PSAP Northern911 will process the high volume of calls and transfer to the appropriate secondary PSAP freeing up valuable time from your highly specialized dispatchers. Some Municipalities and Counties have found that by subcontracting the E911 answer portion of a call to us their own Police Department Dispatch doesn’t need to be expanded. We handle the Ambulance calls and they never touch the Police Dispatchers leaving them free to concentrate.

We fully support E911 implementation. The IP E911 system is built from the ground up in conjunction with Bell Canada with high availability and redundancy as the foundation for the solution.
- Two Diverse Fiber Interconnections back to Bell’s highly available MPLS private network.
- Two Distinct highly available Bell provided routers.
- Two Distinct highly available N911 Firewalls.
- Redundant layer 3 switches to provide highly available internal routing of network traffic to ensure that the data makes it to the E911 dispatcher each and every time.
- Two Distinct highly available E911 application servers for providing the calling party location information.
- Two Distinct databases to store the caller’s location information. This information is written to both databases simultaneously to ensure data integrity.
- One E911 application server for providing the calling party location information at our Disaster Recovery location.
